Development of harmonized AML/CFT standards in the EU: AMLA publishes three draft Regulatory Technical Standards for public consultation
The European agency AMLA has published three draft Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) for public consultation, in line with the planned work schedule (more information in Annex XI on the planning of RTS, ITS and Guidelines).
Â
The public consultations are aimed at obliged entities, public authorities, self‑regulatory bodies, international institutions and organizations, civil society organizations, consumer representatives, academia, and investigative journalists.
According to the AMLA’s press release the consultation on the draft RTS on business relationships and others (Article 19(9) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1624) — whose consultation will remain open until 8 May 2026 — is addressed to all sectors, both financial and non‑financial
Meanwhile, the other two draft RTS — concerning Customer Due Diligence under Article 28(1) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1624 (consultation open until 8 May 2026) and  the regime of infringements and administrative pecuniary sanctions under Article 53(10) of Directive (EU) 2024/1640 (consultation open until 9 March 2026) — are aimed particularly at the non‑financial sector.
The press release also includes a link to an explanatory note that highlights the key role of non‑financial obliged entities within the anti‑money laundering and counter‑terrorist financing framework
It is noted that comments on the documents submitted for consultation may be submitted in any of the official languages of the European Union.
Sepblac encourages all obliged entities to review these texts and to participate actively in the consultation processes, which are essential for shaping the final design of the obligations that will apply once they are approved.
