New suspicious transactions report (STR) model on money laundering and fraud indications

One of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) against money laundering and fraud objectives is to improve information on money laundering and fraud, and its analytical exploitation, in a space of collaboration among the public and private sectors. In recent years, there has been a growing increase in the number of STRs of suspected frauds, which involves a large amount of resources and time, both for the obliged subjects and for Sepblac.

In this context, in order to increase efficiency in the prevention and prosecution of fraud and money laundering, Sepblac has launched one of the actions of the PPP, consisting on a new STRs model in order to facilitate and simplify the elaboration and reporting of these obliged subjects’ fraud-related accounts, and thus receive a clearer and more effective data for subsequent analysis. This action was previously presented to the sectorial associations and obliged subjects through different bilateral meetings, in order to communicate its main elements and, at the same time, to collect doubts and questions, prior to its implementation.

This new STR model is now available (only in Spanish) at the web page of Sepblac, together with a user’s manual and a FAQs document, in order to ease the fulfillment and sending of these STRs.
